2008 Gibson Custom Shop Icon Acoustic 60's SJ200 (Sold)

今天在Craigslist看到有人在賣Gibson1960再製的SJ-200是Guitar Center和Musician Friends專門請Gibson的Custom Shop按1960年的規格一一用手工製作的, 木材選料和五金都儘量仿古, 連塗裝都按60年代的超薄式, 在網上要賣$4200, 這位仁兄要價不高, 而且願意換Fender電吉他, 我就和他聯絡.
談了幾次後, 他願意和我換我的Fender Time Machine Custom Shop Stratocaster Relic再加一點現金, 我算一下很合算, 週六晚上我去拿了回來, 音色不錯, 可惜琴身有點大, 我像抱個胖女人﹐ 不過Super Jumbo (SJ) 就是以大有名的﹐而且俗語說: “好戲胖女人唱完才算數” (It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings)

Through special arrangements with Gibson, we were able to turn back the clock to the mid-1960's, and that influential period of music history. The J-200 of that used on the modern J-200. Movement up and down the neck is fast and comfortable. All internal bracing is scalloped by hand, not by a machine, like most braces today. The top of the guitar is AAA grade Sitka Spruce, all hand selected, of course. The back and sides of this guitar are solid European Maple, just like the guitars of the mid-60's, with similar grain and figure patterns. The fingerboard is Madagascar Rosewood, with the traditional Gibson "crown" inlays, in genuine mother-of-pearl. While the Madagascar Rosewood bridge maintains the Gibson "moustache" shape, the 60's J-200 uses the "paisley" style mother of pearl inlays, just as it was done during the "British Invasion" years. Even more unique, the pickguard is made from the original 1960's pickup mold to ensure even the smallest detail is period-correct. Even the tuning keys are gold plated Grover Imperials, just like the original
Back in the 60's, just like today, Gibson finishes their guitars with an ultra thin nitrocellulose lacquer that actually blends with the top wood layers allowing the wood to breathe and open up over time. The Icon 60'S J-200 is shipped with a custom-fitted case and a certificate of authenticity signed by Gibson's General Manager of Acoustic Instruments.
The 60's J-200 is but one model in the Acoustic Icon series created for us by the luthiers at Gibson. A very limited number of these fine instruments are being made available.

The Cordoba Solista Flamenco Guitar has great punch, immediate response, and sings out brilliantly, whether strummed aggressively or played sweetly. The Cordoba Solista has a solid cypress back and sides, a solid European spruce soundboard and black anodized tuning machines. The aesthetic details are gorgeous, featuring intricate inlays in the purfling around the top and in the rosette, as well as in the tie block. The beautifully carved headstock design with multiple veneers is the finishing touch to an otherwise exquisite Cordoba guitar.

This guitar was a give away prize at Peter, Paul & Mary Concert in August, 1995. Guitar was new and was autographed by them. it is a Epiphone PR350, 1994 Korean made, solid Spruce top & Mahogany sides and back, Dreadnought size, no-frills chrome tuners, mother of pearl inlays on the headstock. Being a big PP&M fan, I bought it right away when I saw this guitar at Chicago guitar trade show.

今 晚看到網頁的新聞, Peter, Paul & Mary 的 Mary走了, 享年72歲. Mary這幾年來一直和敗血症奮鬥, 今年聽說她們的音樂會取消, 心裡就想 Mary可能病況更加嚴重, 拖了好幾年還是走了. 在報章上看到的照片顯得蒼老, 美麗的金髮也因治癌症而剃光了.
喜歡PPM三重唱大概有40多年了, 大二那年看到同學彈琴, 也興起跑去中華商場金聲樂器行買了把木吉他, 當時打越戰, 美國有不少的反戰民謠歌手團體, PPM是其中之一, 例如"花落何處"(Where have the flowers gone), " 被風吹去" (Blowing in the Wind), 都是反戰民謠曲, 當時台灣用中文唱反戰歌曲可不行, 唱英文則沒人管, 這兩首曲子很多人唱, 我卻最喜歡她們三人優美的和聲, 和唱片上封面三人在舞台上瀟脫的樣子, 尤其Mary的金髮在燈光的反射下特別醒目, 當時雖然是窮學生, 卻買了不少她們的專輯唱片, 也學了她們幾首簡單的曲子, 例如"Puff, the magic dragon"(魔術龍), "500 miles "(離家五百里), “Cruel War”(殘酷的戰爭)等等.
1975 年出國時, 帶著台灣買的假馬丁 Martin D28, 幾個行李中還塞著一本台灣翻版的PPM吉他譜(到今天破爛不堪, 我還保留著). 在美國的生活壓力大, 上班的忙碌, 經濟的拮倨不能讓我去買她們的唱片(當時沒有CD), 偶然在收音機上聽到她們的曲子會讓我興奮不已, 有時也用那把假馬丁彈著簡單的和弦哼唱著她們的曲子給沙漠嫂聽, 有了小孩以後, 晚上常在兩位女兒的臥室外的樓梯口彈唱幾首民謠曲給她們聽, 兩位女兒差七歲, 小的只有5-6歲時, 老大已經12歲了, 小女兒比較愛聽, 我常唱PPM 的Hush-A-Bye, Hush Little Baby, Puff 和其他童謠 當她們的催眠曲.
我一直不知道這段時光在小女兒心中記得如此清楚, 到了十多年後她大三, 她生了一場病發高燒, 有點不省人事, 我和沙漠嫂都很著急, 看完醫生後在家裡照顧。後來她退了燒, 躺在床上休養, 我在旁邊陪她, 她居然說﹕“Daddy, play guitar for me.. ”(" 爹地﹐你彈吉他給我聽好嗎?" ) 我相當詫異的去拿了吉他, 好久沒有彈沒有唱, 曲子都不記得了, 勉強的憑記憶彈了幾首。 我知道唱的彈的非常彆腳, 小女兒卻說﹕"Daddy, It sounds like heaven!"(爹地﹐這像天堂之聲), 我聽得眼淚都掉下來了...

我不知道他怎麼弄的, 送我的是第一排的位置, 當晚我和太太去, 看到心中的偶像在離不到十尺的舞台上唱興奮不已, 尤其Mary 雖然已經40多歲, 徐娘半老, 風韻猶存, 耍起金髮唱歌的神情讓我終身難忘, 26年前她唱 “If I Had A Hammer”金髮不斷抖動的情景仍然歷歷在目....
這幾年一直在圓大學沖浪吉他的夢, 比較沒有去玩民謠吉他, 也開始收集吉他, 所以常常去吉他展示會, 有一次去老遠看到一把吉他的弦上夾一張PPM的照片, 我好奇的走過去, 原來是一把Epiphone的黑色木吉他, 是PPM在2005年音樂會上送給歌迷的抽獎, 上面有她們三位的簽名, 是賣吉他的老頭姪兒幸運抽到的, 他不想留下來彈, 要叔叔帶來賣, 我看到欣喜若狂, 馬上買了下來。
人總是要走的, Mary走的早了, 才72歲, 還可以多唱幾年的, 不過她在過去的50多年已經溫暖了許多人包括我的心, 這位來到人間歡唱給世人聽的天使現在功成告退的回去天上老家休養了﹐我們雖然惋惜不捨她走. 說聲:“安息吧﹐Mary”

This guitar was a give away prize at Peter, Paul & Mary Concert in August, 1995.
