買一段歷史

1950年代有個電子奇才收音機修理匠 Bob Crooks 在南加州自己家裡車房造Tube 真空管音箱打出名聲, 許多美國的名吉他手包括Joe Maphis, Chet Atkins, Merle Travis 等人找他訂做, 不久他設立了Standel ( Standard Electric 的簡稱) 音箱公司, 相當的成功,

這是 Bob Crooks 做給 Semie Mosley 的音箱﹐在 eBay 叫價$15,000﹐沒有成交。



在1965年左右, Bob Crooks 開始 設計了Solid State 的 Guitar Amp, 當時是震驚了音箱產業. 連名爵士吉他手 Wes Montgomery 也用他們的音箱。

收集到 Standel 吉他後, 附近有個人正好賣1966年的Standel 音箱, 是 Studio XX 型號 S20R, 80W, 4X10 的 Standel 喇叭, 我也一併收集下來.

Vintage 1967 Standel Studio 20 amplifier.  Very groovy 60's styling with original faux ostrich skin covering.  It is in remarkable condition for its age.  I would not say mint, but very clean. 

This is a REAL amplifier, with 4 original Jensen C10P speakers and PLENTY of volume.  A lot of the early solid state amps were low powered and frankly sounded anemic.  Not this beast.  Standel was a pioneer in the use of solid state for musical instrument amplification, and this amp sounds great and can get LOUD.

You have 2 channels, one is normal and the other has tremolo and reverb - similar to the Fender amps of the same era.  The reverb sounds so-so.  I can't get the trem to work, so maybe you need the footswitch (not included).  Everything else seems to work fine.  Did I mention this thing gets LOUD?  No humming or speaker rattles or other nonsense that you typically find with older amps.  This one is solid.

The pots and caps are dated 1967.  The speakers are dated 1966, which is normal for manufacturing in this time frame.

 1966年的Solid State 音箱, 音色當然不能和目前的好的 Tube 音箱比, 但音色非常清晰, 適合彈50-60年代的 Twangy 西部歌或 Rockabilly. 歷史的價值要大於實際的彈奏.
