A custom-shop re-creation of the 1956 Paul

1956 was a big year for the Les Paul Goldtop. It was the first year that the Les Paul wore the Tune-O-Matic bridge bridge (aka ABR-1). This bridge design represented a major advance in functionality. It anchored the strings more solidly improving sustain, had adjustable saddles for better intonation, and thumbwheels allowed it to be raised or lowered for preferred action. It was in many ways the first modern Les Paul.

Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) series instruments., the 1956 Les Paul Goldtop VOS is handcraftedfor comfort and playability in the Gibson Custom Shop. The construction, neck profile, hardware, and electronics are period accurate, and a special nitro-cellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently-aged vintage guitar. Includes Gibson Custom Shop case, a certificate of authenticity, and custom care kit.

2004 Angus Young Signature SG (Sold)

The Gibson Angus Young Signature SG is a faithful reproduction of Young's trademark axe! It's exact, even down to the worn engraving on the Lyre Vibrola tailpiece. Mahogany body and neck, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl trapezoid inlays, single-bound neck, nickel hardware, a '57 Classic humbucker (neck), an Angus Signature humbucker (bridge), and devil graphic on headstock. Definitely a guitar that's made to rock "all night long."

2005年 Lakland 55-94 Standard 5 String Bass

5弦的貝斯

我又向上次賣我 Lakland Joe Osborne Signature Jazz Bass 的老頭 Bob 買了他的2005年 Lakland 55-94 standard 5 String Bass.

這把55-94的指板比其他的5弦貝斯稍微窄一點, 抓起來還算可以慢慢的習慣. 琴身是 Swamp Ash, 塗裝 3 tone Sunburst.

這次見到Bob, 看起來身體好多了. 和他聊了一下. 他15歲就開始彈貝斯, 彈了45年了. 我邀請他來我們團練一起JAM . 他只剩下一把Lakland Skyline 韓國製的55-02. 留下來自己彈.

Skyline 55-02和賣的這把55-94 非常類似. 沒有3-way Bridge Pickup Coil Tap Toggle. 可以調的音色也不少. 琴身也是Ash 塗裝 3 tone sunburst 完全一樣, 但比較重一點. 我試彈一下覺得還不錯, B弦似乎沒有像網上有人說太鬆的感覺. 不過我當然還是喜歡美國製的這把 55-94 將來轉手容易.

我還不太習慣5弦的貝斯. 如果彈的喜歡, 就把原來的Lakland Joe Osborne Signature Jazz Bass 賣掉.

2003 Suhr Classic T (Sold)

久仰大名, 一見如故

今天看到有人在Craigslist上賣二手的 Suhr Classic T 吉他. 一直久仰 Suhr 大名, 就和賣家聯絡議價, 見面一看到她似曾相識, 再試彈一下馬上有一見如故的感覺, 決定買下.

回家後和 Grosh 的RCVT比較. 兩把非常類似. 音色Grosh比較暖, Suhr 比較強烈一點, 有我賣掉的Fender 51 Nocaster RI 的感覺. 但是琴頸沒有那麼厚.

過幾天再做Grosh RCVT vs Suhr Classic T 的比較.

2007 Grosh RCS Custom (Sold)

不愛Taylor小姐就讓她走吧

用我一直不喜歡但是賣不掉的Taylor Standard 電吉他賠錢換了這把二手Grosh RCS, 雖然這把二手Grosh的賣價不錯, 我還是貼了不少錢. 但是與其一直冷落那把Taylor, 不如讓她到喜歡彈她的人手中.

這把2007 Grosh RCS 和我的另一把 2009 RCS 看起來幾乎一模一樣, 但小有不同; 一把是鳥眼楓木琴頸, Birdseye's Maple, Rounded V. 一把是火紋楓木琴頸 Flamed Maple, Medium Round. 而且琴身一把塗裝深綠色 Sherwood Green, 一把是塗裝淺綠色 Mary Kay Seafoam Green. 拾音器是不相同的設定; 這把是S/S/H, Fralin BS, BS, HB9k, S/S/H with Push-Pull Coil Tap (Tone 鈕可以拉起來從Humbucker 變成 Single Coil )and Super 5-way Switch. 原先的那把是Fralin S/S/S, Blues Specials Neck & Mid, Sp43 Bridge, Vol, Tone, Blend.

最近在研究Grosh用過的拾音器 pickups. 發覺這把深綠色的RCS的後段PU實在不像Humbucker, 像是Single Coil PU. 看不像, 彈的音色也不像. 更像Lindy Franlin 的SP43

但是保證卡和規格明明寫的是"HB9k"

....White Knobs/Pickup Covers, S/S/H, Fralin BS, BS, HB9k, S/S/H with Push-Pull Coil Tap and Super 5-way Switch....

難道是上個買主把後段PU換了? 可是護板像是原裝, PU不像換過.... 搞的我一頭霧水

Lindy Franlin 的P-92看起來像是Humbucker, 但實際上是Single Coil(有雜音取消 hum cancelling 處理還很靜), 所以我不確定...

乾脆去問美國論壇上Grosh 工廠的專家, 過幾天應該有答案.

Grosh Retro Classic Hollow T

RCVT 的堂姐RCHT

今天用我的Gibson Angus Young Signature SG 加上現金和一個朋友換了這把 Grosh Retro Classic Hollow T. 我的朋友全新買後發現和他喜歡Gibson的音色不同所以和我換. 兩人都皆大歡喜.

她是2/27/09出生, 所以是 我的另外一把RCVT的堂姐. Mahogany 的花紋相當漂亮 . 將來兩把要留那一把還要看她們的表現.

這把吉他和我的RCVT很類似, 但是空心. Pickups有些不同, 琴頸是一條楓木但不是鳥眼.
